Homemade without the hassle
Carrie Vine's began as a home-based bakery in 2019. As a University of South Carolina alum and North Charleston native, I often wondered, “How do I use my hospitality degrees and be as present with my family as I’d like?” The answer: “Do what you know.”—and I know sweets. Thus, my brainchild was born. Carrie Vine’s Homemade Treats offers a hassle-free way to satisfy your sweet tooth (or sweet teeth). Our treats include the ever popular dessert bars--lemon brownie and pecan chewie. Many also enjoy our two-layer, nine-inch cakes like the classic red velvet and colorful funfetti cakes. Guests are drawn in by the product's presentation and return for the honest service, consistent quality and unmatched flavors.
Behind the name
Contrary to popular belief, Carrie Vine was not a baker by trade. My great-grandmother was a prominent midwife in the North Area of Charleston County between the years of . As a child, I recall my father describing her as incredibly strong, exceptionally nurturing, and having a no-nonsense character. She did everything in her power for the sake of family and reared those under her to be just as strong and wise. To honor such a matron, the bakery was coined as her namesake. It is her spirit that we aspire to embody and her standard of excellence that we reach for. Each treat is crafted with the same level of care she displayed in her endeavors. I hope you like what you see, ‘cause I know you’ll love what you taste.
Our mission
To pay homage to Carrie Vine, we have made it our mission to support entities dedicated to the advancement of midwifery in the African American community. Supporting organizations like these are a sure way to decrease the racial disparity among maternal and infant mortality rates. A portion of our profits are donated to establishments like A Wombman's Way Warrior Midwife Training. As noted on their website, this non-profit "is committed to the education of women, people, families and the preservation of Midwifery within African American communities."
